Hi everyone,
well I’m really sorry I never managed to get a wrap up post for the end of last semester up. but now that we are all the way up to the start of the new semester I feel its better to move forward and stay current (well as close as possible) so I’m just going to say I’m glad its done and I managed to finish with all A’s.
I had a great winter break, my winter break is really really long I have been hanging out in Seattle for just over a month! I have managed to do just about everything that I planed to over the break and got plenty of sleep. Christmas was wonderful, it was great to see the whole family (well almost all the family) and I have always loved the holiday time. I got to go on a nice and short Christmas cruse, (with no sea sickness Yhea!!) and a lovely Denmark themed Christmas eve dinner (the duck was great)
I had a great time seeing all my friends that I have missed so much! in fact I was having so much fun I never took any photos! almost all mu friends started school on the 7th so I have about two weeks all to myself where I could get everything I had wanted to get done over the break (well not everything but just about) I re-arranged my room, sorted out the families tech problems, made some great gluten free food, did some much needed shopping, set up a Pintrest account and started pinning, and finished two sets of cuff links and stud sets for my dads birthday.
I also got some good and bad news from my doctor. I don’t have celice, I’m just highly sensitive to all gluten grains (that would be wheat, barley, and Rye and Spelt) this is a big relief as it means that my body just doesn’t get along very well with gluten and not actively trying to destroy my small intestine. I had a big allergy test taken as even with cutting out all Gluten I was still having some problems and the results were a bit surprising, they showed that I’m allergic to all forms of Dairy (including goat) which I knew. the gluten of corse and surprisingly eggs, Mushrooms and Hazelnut. its not the worst news I could get but it adds a third complication into my already completed diet. On the advice of my Doc. I am going off eggs completely for six to eight weeks to see if my symptoms improve and then I will see if I can tolerate any eggs at all (I have a small tolerance to dairy depending on the dairy and more import the amount) so I’m going to guess that I have some tolerance to eggs too. Since its the start of a new year and a new semester I’m also going to renew my efforts to work out, but then again I think just about everyone says that so…
goodbye eggs, and I was just starting to like you
I will be heading back to Oakland on Monday(today) and school starts on Tuesday, I’m cutting it rather close but then again I don’t start classes until Tuesday afternoon and really I don’t have a ton to do there anyway. I am taking five classes (like normal) this semester and I’m not really anticipation things being any easer this semester, but I think the class timing will be better and since my classes are all in Oakland so I won’t have to worry about checking a shuttle to SF every week. they are listed here starting Monday and working through the week.
Monday/Wednesday from 12 to 3pm I have Jewelry 2B with a teacher I have never had before so it will be a new experience. 2B just means that its a continuation of Jewelry 2A. I think 2B focus on chasing and recusay, I’ll tell you all what that means when I have a better idea of what it means.
Monday form 7:15 to 10:15pm I have School to Market witch is co-taught by one of my farvout jewelry teachers, and one of the textile teachers (who I don’t know) It should be a interesting class all about the art selling system (how to get in galleries, how all that works) and a bit on business and marketing. its going over all the things that you should do the day after you graduate, its largely self directed so that will be a bit of a change but also a welcome opturnity.
Tuesday from 12 to 3pm I have math, programing, and art – its a math class that’s going to try to use computers and art to teach us, I’m not holding out much hope for it to be interesting but we will see.
Thursday from 7:15 to 10:15pm I will have a class called Modern Western Outlook. I think its history but not really sure of anything more then that.
Friday from 9:00 to 3:00 I have Intro to interaction design. this is the class I tried to take last spring semester but had to drop as I was taking to many classes. it should be interesting and I’m looking forward to it but I’m also a bit hesitant because I’m coming into the class with a completely different skill set then what most of them will have (this could be good or bad but either way its different.)
none of my classes start before 12 except the Friday class at 9, and only one meets more then once a week (Jewelry 2B) this means lots of the work will be self directed (and that getting up on Friday is going too be hard again.)
the semester is going to start will a bang in the jewelry program, I think I have mentioned it once before that this year is the 100th year that the jewelry program has been running at CCA and therefor they are doing a bunch of cool sentinel things, this semester will open will a gallery show of jewelry made by graduates and past and present jewelry teachers at CCA. There will also be a series of lectures about the program and the future of jewelry and CCA starting off with a lecture about the history of jewelry at CCA on Wednesday, I’m sure it will be interesting.
I will be trying to update the blog once a week (that’s right once a week) they will be shorter but more frequent. I hope you will all stick with me and follow along.
